Events


During the conference week three social events are planned: the Welcome Party, trips to various parts of south Moravia, and the Farewell Party.

Welcome Party, September 7, 2025, from 6pm till 11pm.

The welcome party takes place at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University.

How to get there:
From railway station (Hlavní nádraží) - Tram 9, 10, 12 to the stop Česká (takes 5-6 min)
From Hotel Continental – on foot (takes 10 min.)
From Vinarska Student Dormitory - Tram 1 (direction RECKOVICE) or trolleybus 25 (direction VOZOVNA HUSOVICE) or 26 (direction STEFANIKOVA CTVRT) from the stop Arena Brno to the stop Mendlovo namesti. From stop Mendlovo namesti by tram 5 or 6 to the stop Česká. (takes 15 min)
 


Farewell Party, September 12, 2025, from 6:30pm till 11pm.

The farewell party takes place at the Old Brno Abbey of the St. Augustine Order.

How to get there:
From the conference venue – Trolleybus 25 (direction NEMOCNICE BOHUNICE) or 26  (direction KAMENNY VRCH) from the stop Konecneho namesti to the stop Mendlovo namesti.
From Hotel Continental – on foot to the stop Ceska and take Tram 5 (direction USTREDNI HRBITOV) or Tram 6 (direction STARY LISKOVEC smycka) to the stop Mendlovo namesti.
From Vinarska Student Dormitory - Trolleybus 25 (direction VOZOVNA HUSOVICE) or Troll 26 (direction STEFANIKOVA CTVRT) from the stop Arena Brno to the stop Mendlovo namesti.

All trips will start at the conference venue.


Pálava Trip
If you enjoy hiking in the countryside, this trip is for you. Take good shoes and outdoor clothes, as we will walk along unpaved roads and dirt paths.The hike is about 6.6 km long, with an ascent of 269 meters and a descent of 376 meters. The trip will take you to the beautiful countryside south of Brno. We will travel by private coach, stopping first in Klentnice, where we will set off on a scenic hike through the picturesque Pálava landscape. The route covers rolling hills and vineyards, with gentle ascents and descents that open into wide views of South Moravia and castle ruins. After the walk, the journey continues to Pavlov, a charming wine village. The highlight of the evening takes place in Němčičky, where a wine tasting at the Stávek winery is arranged. Along with the wines, we will enjoy a buffet-style dinner with local specialties and refreshments, rounding off the day in an authentic Moravian setting.

  • The choice of vegetarian food will be limited (cheese, vegetable, bakery) and the choice of vegan food will be even more limited (vegetable, bakery).

Pernštejn Trip
This excursion centers around the impressive Pernštejn Castle, one of the most striking medieval strongholds in the Czech Republic. After walking up to the castle grounds, we will participate in a guided tour and we will explore the rich history and architecture of the castle. Once the visit concludes, we will continue to the nearby village of Doubravník. Here, dinner is arranged in the traditional village pub, where we can taste Czech cuisine and locally brewed beer. The evening in this small village pub offers a warm and authentic Czech atmosphere after the castle visit.

  • Vegetarian choice of the dinner will be possible but there will be no vegan option.

Brno Tour
The Brno city tour unfolds on foot, taking the group through the historic heart of the city. We will walk along pavements, with a total distance of about 6 km.The walk passes along Kounicova Street and across Moravské náměstí, continuing past the Rectorate and Komenského Square, then through Česká Street and the lively Jakubské Square. From there, the route explores the main landmarks: Freedom Square, Dominikánské Square, the Old Town Hall, the Zelný trh marketplace, and the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. A unique highlight is the guided visit of the underground cellars beneath the Zelný trh, after which we can continue further up the Spilberk fortress. In the evening, the day closes with dinner at the traditional Brno brewery restaurant offering Czech cuisine in a convivial atmosphere.

  • Both vegetarion and vegan dinner will be provided.
